Performed at funerals, wakes, and elder-honoring contexts, the yambú is the only rumba subform that prohibits the vacunao symbolic-pursuit choreographic-element — the dance is restrained, near-stationary, with subtle-hip-rotational gesture and exaggerated-elderly-mock-tremulous movement. The repertoire preserves the oldest pre-conga rumba percussion vocabulary.",
