  "lineage": "Ritual men's dance of southern Romania, centred on Olt and Argeș counties, performed at Rusalii (Whitsuntide) by a sworn group of călușari under a leader (vătaf), with a masked mute (mutul) and a flag topped with garlic and wormwood; the dancers were believed to heal those struck by the Rusalii spirits. Its music is a cycle of dedicated căluș melodies played by lăutari on violin and lăută, to which the dancers stamp, leap and click their heels, wearing bells on their legs and shouting calls. UNESCO proclaimed the Căluș ritual a Masterpiece in 2005. The cobza card stands in for the lăută.",
