Its emblem is the piphat mon ensemble, led by the large pi mon oboe with a flared metal bell, with khong mon gong circles set in upright crescent-shaped frames, ranat xylophones, the poeng mang khok frame of tuned drums and a barrel drum; in Thai custom it is the ensemble played at funerals. Mon chamber music also uses the kyam crocodile zither. The Thai khong wong yai card stands in for the khong mon, a generic membrane-drum card for the poeng mang khok and the taphon card for the Mon barrel drum.",
