Malambo norteño is danced in hard boots with fast, showy footwork, malambo sureño in soft boots with more restrained figures; a guitar strums a repeated chord cycle in fast 6/8 and the bombo legüero drives the pulse. The Festival Nacional de Malambo in Laborde, Córdoba, is its main competition.",
