The actors sing chivalric, biblical and historical stories in rhymed stanzas to a small stock of traditional melodies, with short instrumental ritornelli between stanzas, traditionally on violin and later also accordion or guitar. Researchers of the University of Bologna and others have documented and recorded the companies, which remain active in villages such as Costabona.",
