Actors improvise sung and spoken dialogue around stock plots, much of the sung text is carried by the signature ranikloeng melody, and a piphat ensemble of ranat xylophone, gong circle, pi oboe, drums and ching accompanies the songs and stage action. Likay troupes reached a large audience through cassette, VCD and television recordings.",
