A leader sings the opening of a short verse and the others enter with the ganga, a loud, throat-shaken accompanying part (groktanje) pitched in close dissonant intervals, so that the voices fuse into one dense, beating sound. Ethnomusicologist Ankica Petrović made it the subject of extended fieldwork and her doctoral study.",
