Ensembles of bossed gongs (cồng) and flat gongs (chiêng), each player sounding a single gong, accompany rites of the agricultural and life cycle, buffalo sacrifices, funerals and village festivals, often together with a drum. The gong card stands in for both cồng and chiêng, and a generic membrane-drum card for the ensemble drum.",
