Services were led by priests in the prayer house, with a drum and a small gong sounding in some of them; the drum and gong cards stand in for these. Wolf Leslau's recordings from the 1940s were issued by Folkways, and Kay Kaufman Shelemay later studied and transcribed the liturgy, before most of the community emigrated to Israel.",
