  "lineage": "The Arbëreshë, descendants of Albanian communities who settled in southern Italy from the fifteenth century, keep a repertoire of multipart songs called vjersh, sung by small groups of men or of women in which one or two soloists carry the text over a drone held by the rest, used at weddings, at Easter and in other community celebrations. Diego Carpitella recorded it in the Arbëreshë villages of Calabria in the mid-twentieth century, and later field recordings from the Arbëreshë villages of Basilicata have been published.",
