Singers flip between chest voice and a high falsetto break called guin, and much of the repertoire uses a scale closer to mainland min'yō than to the Okinawan Ryūkyū scale. Local masters were recorded by the Central Gakki label in Naze. The membrane-drum card stands in for the chijin.",
